App: NCERT Books  ·  Effective date: 19 July 2026  ·  Last updated: 19 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information NCERT Books (the "App") collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Summary: Browsing and downloading NCERT textbooks does not require an account and no personal information is collected for that. Your bookmarks, highlights, and downloaded chapters are stored only on your own device. The App also offers an optional sign-in for upcoming features — if you choose to create an account, we collect the details you provide (name, email, phone, and basic profile information) to operate those features. We do not show ads, and we do not use any analytics or advertising SDKs in this app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Browsing and downloading textbooks (no account required)

You can browse, view, and download NCERT textbooks, sample papers, and syllabi without creating an account or providing any personal information. These PDFs are sourced from official government education websites — NCERT (ncert.nic.in), DIKSHA (diksha.gov.in), and CBSE (cbseacademic.nic.in) — and the app fetches them directly from those public servers.

1.2 Information stored only on your device

This data is stored locally on your device (using standard on-device storage) and is never sent to our servers. It is removed automatically if you uninstall the App.

1.3 Information you provide if you create an account

The App includes an optional sign-in, built for features we are still rolling out. If you choose to create an account, we collect:

This information is stored securely with our backend provider, Supabase, and is used only to let you sign in again later and to support features as they become available. As of this version, the matching/marketplace features this account system was built for are not yet live in the App.

1.4 Information shared when you contact us via WhatsApp

Some parts of the App (such as "Request a book" and "Forgot Password") open WhatsApp with a pre-filled message, at your choice. If you send that message, WhatsApp/Meta processes it according to their own privacy policy — we only see the message you choose to send us.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or crash-reporting SDKs in this App. We do not collect your device's advertising identifier, precise location, or browsing history, and we do not show third-party ads.

3. Third-Party Services

The App relies on the following third-party services:

4. How We Use Information

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Bookmarks, highlights, and downloaded files stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. If you created an account and would like your account and profile data deleted, email us at the address below and we will delete it within a reasonable time.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is an educational tool intended to help students of all school ages access NCERT textbooks, which does not itself require any personal information. The optional sign-in is intended for use by, or with the involvement of, a parent or guardian where the user is a minor. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner not permitted by applicable law. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including relying on Supabase's security practices for account data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You can use almost all of the App's features — browsing, downloading, bookmarking, and highlighting — without ever providing personal information. If you have created an account, you may contact us at any time to access, correct, or delete the information associated with it.

9. Content Ownership and Copyright

All textbooks, sample papers, syllabi, and related content displayed in this App are the intellectual property of their respective publishers — NCERT, CBSE, and DIKSHA (the National Council of Educational Research and Training, the Central Board of Secondary Education, and the National Digital Infrastructure for school education, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India). This App does not claim ownership of that content and provides it solely for free, non-commercial educational access, sourced from each publisher's official public website. Any trademarks, logos, or names belonging to NCERT, CBSE, or DIKSHA are the property of their respective owners and are referenced here only to identify the source of the content.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
